Papuri at Pasasalamat Pentecost Sunday

Jesuit Communications Foundation (JesCom), together with the Ateneo de Manila University Jesuit community, invites the faithful to “Papuri at Pasasalamat: A Mass of Praise and Thanksgiving for our Frontliners and all the Generous Souls in the time of the Pandemic”, at 9AM on Sunday, May 31.

Streaming live from the Church of the Gesu, via Radyo Katipunan 87.9 FM ( and Jesuit Communications Foundation ( ) the celebration of the Holy Eucharist for the Solemnity of Pentecost also honors the generous, selfless men and women who have helped those in need, survive through the challenging community quarantine period.

Central to the feast commemorating the Holy Spirit’s transformative descent upon the apostles, 50 days after Christ’s resurrection, is the inspiring gift of Charity. It is Charity that has opened the hearts of our heroic brothers and sisters in faith, to be shining examples of compassion and self-giving in these unprecedented times.

In an audience with the youth last week at the Vatican, Pope Francis praised frontliners and exemplary individuals who go out of their way to be of service to those affected by COVID 19.

“They are heroes. Living their profession as a vocation…risking their lives to save others fulfills Jesus’ words, ‘No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends’,” described the Holy Father.

Presiding at Sunday’s “Papuri at Pasasalamat” and delivering the homily, is Fr. Arnel Aquino SJ. Meanwhile, fellow acclaimed Jesuit composer Fr.Manoling Francisco SJ, will share a message of thanksgiving. Assisting as altar servers are Fr.Jason Dy SJ and Fr. JR Orbeta SJ. Members of the Jesuit residence will comprise the morning’s choir, while JesCom Executive Director Fr.Nono Alfonso SJ reprises his role as commentator.
