Join H.E. Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle in a grand pre-Christmas musicale

Jesuit Communications Foundation (JesCom), in partnership with the Archdiocese of Manila, presents “Patron of the Arts 2019: Panunuluyan” on December 12, Thursday, 7 pm at the Meralco Theater, Pasig City.

The highly anticipated concert, annually held on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and coinciding with the ordination anniversary of the esteemed H.E. Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, features a star-studded cast for the grand pre-Christmas musicale.

Acclaimed soprano, Bituin Escalante headlines the evening’s marquee lineup, alongside matinee idol Piolo Pascual and fellow Kapamilya network talent Gian Magdangal. The all-girl trio and Awit-Award winner for Best Jazz Recording, Baihana, adds its smooth, suave style to the festivities. The theater artist duo of Tim Pavino and Elai Estrella is set to make a welcome appearance as well. Rounding out the talents for the yearly spectacle, are chorales Ateneo Chamber Singers and the Mandaluyong Children’s Choir.

Recognizing the Catholic Church’s historical role as a haven and repository for artists and their craft, Sister Ma. Anunciata Sta. Ana, of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres (SPC), is the recipient of the prestigious Patron of the Arts Award for 2019. The lifelong musician and ardent educator joins a list of distinguished awardees that include composer Ryan Cayabyab and playwright Dr.Onofre Pagsanghan.

With the aim of celebrating the beauty of art and supporting the noteworthy projects pioneered by the beloved Cardinal Tagle, donations and proceeds from the Patron of the Arts have sustained parochial schools, built social housing for employees of the Archdiocese and even helped families victimized by Extra Judicial Killings.

Following the theme “Celebrating the Word”, the selected beneficiary of Patron of the Arts 2019 is the Office for the Promotion of New Evangelization (OPNE). OPNE’s flagship program is the Philippine Conference on New Evangelization (PCNE), an annual three-day gathering first organized by Cardinal Tagle in 2013. The PCNE’s successful run draws an average of 6,000 participants, including foreign delegates, who experience a newfound communion with God, within the context of today’s times.

As the Archdiocese of Manila looks to build on OPNE and PCNE’s pioneering work, consistent support will be integral for its continued growth and objective of presenting the Gospel in an integrated way for today’s Catholics.
