JesCom’s “Weeded” wins Special Citation at 39th MIBF

Jesuit Communications Foundation’s (JesCom) newest publication, “Weeded: Listening for God’s Word to a Messy World”   bagged the Special Citation for Best Book in Homiletics at the 12th Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards held last September 12, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

 “Weeded”, written by Ateneo de Manila University President Fr. Jose Ramon T. Villarin SJ, draws inspiration from the author’s boyhood memories of gardening and alludes to the “Parable of the Weeds” in the Gospel- the image wherein he reflects on the question of hope in the world.

 Receiving the prestigious award, presented by Asian Catholic Communicators, Inc. (ACCI) Chairperson Fr.John Klen Malificiar SSP, was JesCom Marketing Manager Dit Sablan.  In claiming the “Best Book in Homiletics” category, JesCom’s “Weeded” bested fellow finalists “Bibliarasal: Aklat ng Pagninilay Para sa mga Munting Kapitbahayang Kristiyano (Taon B)”  and “Word to Action: Living the Sunday Liturgy Within the Week (Year B)” of St.Paul’s Publishing.

 Staged during the opening day of the 39th Manila International Book Fair (MIBF), the Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards (CSCBA) recognizes outstanding book titles that promote total human development, foster Gospel values and Christian formation and cultivate Filipino culture through up- to- date and effective communications technology.
