Jesuit Music Ministry launches latest albums at “Come One And All” Prayer Concert

Jesuit Music Ministry’s (JMM) latest pair of albums made its resounding launch last June 9, Saturday evening at the Oratory of St.Ignatius of Loyola, Loyola House of Studies, Ateneo de Manila University.

Himig Heswita’s brand-new liturgical and inspirational music compilation “Nauna na Kitang Mahalin” was greeted with delighted cheers and joyous rounds of applause during the one-hour prayer concert dubbed“Come One and All”.

Scholastic Dom Joseph Bulan SJ, a former Ateneo College Glee Club and Ateneo Chamber Singers member, led the audience in giving tribute to the Blessed Virgin on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, with his heartrending rendition of “Aba Ginoong Maria”. Joined by Hangad Music Ministy onstage, Himig Heswita serenaded the gallery with their harmonious delivery of featured tracks “Inay” and “Tanggapin Niyo”.

“Come One and All” also marked the launch of “Sibol”, the seventh edition of JMM’s long-running instrumental series “Vespers”. Captivating the audience with their soulful evening prayer hymns on both flute and guitar were ‘Sibol’ producer Jay Gomez and JesCom sound engineer and singer-songwriter Toto Sorioso.

Capping off an already stellar musicale, were stirring solo performances of “Walang Ibang Tahanan” and the carrier single, “Nauna Kitang Mahalin”, by Michelle Ching of Bukas Palad Ministry and JMM Administrative Officer Rey Malipot.

Welcoming audiences to Himig Heswita’s first live musical performance since its 35th anniversary and its first album launch since 2014, was JMM Director Lester Mendiola. In his concluding remarks, JesCom Executive Director Fr.Emmanuel Alfonso, SJ, shared his sincere admiration and gratitude for his brother Jesuits’ strong dedication and unwavering passion in the ministry of music. Serving as “Come One and All’s”musical director was renowned Jesuit composer, Fr.Arnel Aquino, SJ.
