The Church Needs Quality Service

The formation of Jesuits for the priesthood takes 11-12 years, indeed a considerable period of time. For quality service requires quality preparation. This long formation period includes costly university studies in Philosophy and Theology. For many years, the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus has managed to cover the cost. But with the many financial crises hitting the globe in recent years, the Philippine Province is beginning to feel heavily the financial responsibilities of providing not only for the cost of formation, but also for the care of the growing number of infirm and elderly Jesuits and for the subsidy of its various ministries and apostolates.
