Hangad, a group of young professionals bound by their common desire to help others know God through music, marks their 25th year this 2016. As part of a year-long celebration of gratitude and grace, they are releasing their tenth album co-produced by the Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM) and the Jesuit Communications Foundation (JesCom).
This coming August 27, Saturday, Hangad will launch a brand-new liturgical album called GLORY & PRAISE at the Church of Gesu in the Ateneo de Manila University at 5 in the afternoon. GLORY & PRAISE features 17 songs all meant for use in the Holy Eucharist, including several new psalms and responses. The album contains mostly original compositions and arrangements from the members themselves, songs that are not only fit for the Mass but also suitable for quiet time and personal reflection.
The launch will start off with a song-learning session so the congregation can join in the singing of the new songs during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist which follows immediately after. After the Mass, Hangad will perform the remaining songs from the album, and perhaps one or two old favorites. Admission to this event is absolutely free and so everyone is invited to come as they are. No tickets required.
Hangad began in 1991 and has sung in countless Masses and weddings, performed in numerous fund-raising concerts and events, and has held several workshops for parish choirs, all towards providing everyday inspiration for listeners and fellow music ministers everywhere.
Aside from its ten albums under JesCom, Hangad has also produced five music videos. In 2006, Hangad won the Awit Award for best inspirational /religious song for Pieta: Oyayi sa Paanan ni Hesus from the album THE EASTER JOURNEY.
Hangad is under JMM, and GLORY & PRAISE is a joint production of Hangad and JesCom.
