JesCom Holy Week Specials 2016

JesCom Lent Sked Slide Deck

God’s mercy transforms human hearts; it enables us, through the experience of a faithful love, to become merciful in turn. In an ever new miracle, divine mercy shines forth in our lives, inspiring each of us to love our neighbor and to devote ourselves to what the Church’s tradition calls the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.  –  Message of His Holiness Pope Francis for Lent 2016

On the second anniversary of his Papacy, Pope Francis announced an extraordinary Jubilee, the Holy Year of Mercy, in order to make evident the Catholic Church’s mission to be “a witness of mercy.”

Following the biblical theme “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful,” the Holy Father invites all the faithful, in every station of life, to be living embodiments of Mercy – a word that denotes compassion, love, and deep understanding… a quality of God and one that He requires of His people.

“How much I desire that the year to come will be steeped in mercy,
so that we can go out to every man and woman,
bringing the goodness and tenderness of God.”
-Pope Francis

This Lenten Season, JesCom proudly presents AWA, UNAWA, GAWA: Reflections and Stories on the Corporal Works of Mercy, a documentary special focusing on the traditional Seven Corporal Works of Mercy. Narrated by Noni Buencamino, the two-hour special will highlight inspiring stories of men and women, individually or in groups, who have made it their personal mission to bring God’s love to those in need of physical, material and spiritual assistance – bringing back their sense of self-worth and upholding their human dignity in different stages of both living and dying.

Featuring the much anticipated Lenten reflections of H.E. Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle, AWA, UNAWA, GAWA: Reflections and Stories on the Corporal Works of Mercy will air on Holy Thursday, 24 March 2016 at 2:00PM to 4:00PM on ABS-CBN.  The documentary special will also be aired on on Saturday, 26 March 2016 at 5:00AM to 7:00AM in Hong Kong and Singapore.  It will also be available on  IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) under Religious Programs and TVE starting March 24 until April 5, 2016.

We continue to challenge our audience to answer to God’s call of mercy. In this two-hour special lenten presentation of Usapang Kapatid, anchors Fr. Nono Alfonso, SJ and Sr. Bubbles Bandojo, rc will share their own reflections on the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy. With their usual wit and banter, the program emphasizes the practicality of doing the works of mercy even outside the lenten season.
